Update on Outstanding Questions / Issues:

Concerns about obstructions such as A-boards placed outside shops, causing a hazard to pedestrians, particularly the visually impaired and those with prams or buggies. |
If residents are reporting issues of obstructions to the footway from shops signs, Martin Clark (Business Assistant, Environmental Protection & Regulation, 020 8379 1000, martin.clark@enfield.gov.uk ) suggests that they provide an exact location (if it’s one shop) or a street and general location (if it’s a few shops doing this). The complaint would be inputted on the system and an officer would visit to assess to see if this was something the Council could deal with – sometimes complaints are made re items outside shops and it turns out the shop ‘owns’ an area of land outside, which they are entitled to display items / put signs on.

Concern about Objective 27 of the draft Biodiversity Action Plan for Enfield and that grass verges would not be cut. |
Managing the highways estate to maximise its diversity value is likely to involve a less intensive management regime in some areas. This will include leaving some road verges long, so that they can develop into a wild-flower meadow, but only in places where these areas are in keeping with the local landscape.

|
Bourne Hill, junction with Caversham Ave – pavement re-instatement is very poor.
|
Following inspection by a Highways Officer on 1st November, no defects were identified. It is possible the repairs were carried out by a utility company. The resident has stated there was still a problem and officers are awaiting more details from him – please contact Mavis Sacker, Customer Liaison Officer, Highway Services (020 8379 3476).

There are proposed new hotels in Lincoln Road, Enfield and at Edmonton Green. We would like to think local people would be allotted staff positions principally - would this be so? |
The developer on Lumina Park (Lincoln Road) has committed to a Construction & Employment Strategy which supports the provision of training opportunities and jobs to local people. With regard to the hotel at Edmonton Green, the Council are currently in discussions with the developer regarding a similar commitment as part of the s106 Agreement before the planning permission is formally issued.
